I’ve finished. 106 pages in Microsoft Word and 58,791 words later (pre-editing), my NaNoWriMo story has been completed. I must say I feel rather accomplished. The final chapter of the story will be posting tomorrow at midnight Eastern time, in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
I would like to thank everyone who helped to support me throughout the process of finishing my story. First, those of you who have followed my story in some capacity or another the whole way through (Erin, Tazer, Hookeymonster, Crystal, Mondi) have been an invaluable asset in my story coming together as a coherent, readable project. An additional special thanks to Erin for being my unofficial NaNoWriMo buddy as she has been completing the project as well. I’d also like to thank the occasional readers who have followed along here and there providing creative feedback, particularly Ryan, Karolina, and Megan. Most of all, a huge thank you to Alberta for keeping me sane throughout the whole process (whether she realizes it or not). You’ve been there when I’ve needed you to take my mind off my story and my life…or to keep me focused on it when I need to be. Asparagus.
A couple of things I would like to address about the story itself. Due to a certain website plagiarizing the content of more than one fellow NaNoWriMo writers, I have decided to password protect all my story posts. If you’re coming across this and interested in reading through the story, please leave a comment with a way to contact you outside of this blog (email/Twitter/etc), and I’ll do what I can to help you out. Alternatively, you can also help stop this toolbag from plagiarizing by leaving comments on their blog letting them know that what they’re doing is illegal.
Finally, I mentioned to quite a few people that there was a mental soundtrack to the story as I was writing it. I will be posting the song list below, though due to the douchebaggery mentioned above, I will not be mentioning what songs go with what part of the story. Those interested in finding out may contact me as they wish and I will likely explain the list then.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones – Flight of The Cosmic Hippo
Cold – Don’t Belong
Weezer – Paranoid Android (Radiohead cover)
Arcade Fire – Neon Bible
Amanda Palmer – Polly (Nirvana cover)
